Rest IS the Work 🌳

content strategy thought leadership Nov 26, 2024

This week, I’ve taken myself on a “business staycation.” No big trips—just a fresh environment, free from distractions, to balance two essentials:

  1. Rest and recharge after recent health challenges for myself and my family.
  2. Diving into impactful business initiatives, like launching Virtually Myself®️ (for thought leaders, authors, and consultants) and refreshing Marketing Me®️ for 2025.

I’ve also been running webinars (yesterday’s for the Australian Marketing Institute had 130+ attendees and I hosted it live from a local library in my getaway location!).

I've also been head down, tail up building and shaping new digital products to make my best resources even more accessible.

It’s a lot, I know—and yes, I’m “resting” too. 😉 Because the rest is the work.

So yes, in the last two days I can proudly say I've enjoyed, not one, nor two, but FIVE baths! I think a lot in the water and find it very calming and soothing. And I think one exceeded my previously-held record of 3 hours! (I wrote about that one in my blog last year about The Purple Bath!)

As a founder and personal brand, I’ve learned that my energy isn’t an optional extra—it’s at the core of everything I do. That’s why I’ve given myself this time, not just to “do,” but to be. To reflect, create, and go deep into the work I love, in a way that fuels me for the long haul.

This week has been a beautiful reminder of why doing less, but with intention, often moves the needle further.

So, here’s your reminder: give yourself space. It takes time to organise and plan for, and even then, things don't always go to plan!

Fresh off having spent the weekend at the hospital with one of my boys, it took me two days longer than planned to immerse myself in the big tasks I had set before me for this precious week off the grid.

But that's ok. We can only do what we can do!

Rather than "push through", I decided to just go with it - knowing that on the other side of the rest my remaining three days will be way more productive.

Why?

Because rest IS productive. And when you do lean in, do it with energy and purpose.

So much goodness on the way to you soon - I'm exploring and preparing lots of FRESH ways to help you build your brand, with fun, ease and much inspiration.

Excited for what’s ahead—stay tuned!
