Authenticity + Strategy = 📈

Have you ever reached a milestone only to realise it didn’t quite align with your true passions?
That was me in 2018 when my marketing agency was celebrated at the Australian Marketing Excellence Awards.
Despite the accolade of the prestigious "Best Marketing Agency" award, something felt amiss. I was attempting to fit into traditional frameworks, but my heart was calling for a more authentic expression.
Fast forward to 2022, I was honoured with a Lifetime Award - a different accolate which came as a complete surprise to myself, and was based on leadership and contribution to the marketing industry in Australia.
The amazing thing is that I knew that this time the award wasn't for fitting in, but for embracing my true self and doing marketing and life on my terms.
What had transpired in the meantime?
By aligning my professional path with my personal narrative as a marketer, a mum of five, and a passionate advocate for personal branding, I discovered the true power of authenticity.
And stepped into it, unapologetically.
Here’s the insight: When your personal brand and professional work aligns with your intrinsic values, it resonates more powerfully with your audience.
But connection alone is just part of the equation. The other major component is aligned strategy - because that's the key to commercialisation.
In my case I aligned my professional path and goals to that and became very strategic in my approach to attract the right-fit people who I wanted to have as clients.
My context was marketing, yours may well be something else, but it will be equally powerful as you align your strategy and business goals with your purpose with your values and purpose.
Try this: Reflect on your life’s unique themes and articulate a core brand purpose that mirrors your true self. Use this as your North Star to ensure your messaging is clear, consistent, and strategic, while being authentically aligned with who you are.
